DDB / The Ad Council


 

DDB & The Ad Council call on Picnic to breathe a new life into YourGED.org website.

When DDB was charged with redesinging the YourGED.org website, they came to Picnic to not only develop the site, but advise on interactive design and mobile best practices. Picnic worked directly with the Ad Council and DDB to ensure a seamless deployment effort under a highly-compressed timeline.

 

Picnic was charged with enhancing both usability and functionality of the existing website, while incorporating the new design provided by DDB. Most importantly, it was essential the new site meet the ever-changing demands of a mobile, video-driven landscape and perform seamlessly across the major web, tablet, and smartphone devices.

 

The "real stories" video auto-plays on most devices, eliminating uncessary clicks from the user. The video "Pep Talks" was one of the challenging parts of the project. Allowing a tablet or mobile device to interact with a "video slider" can be very trying. We strived to make the user experience as easy as possible regardless of the device being used. After some research, we selected Vimeo as the content delivery network leveraging the flexibility of it's custom poster frame and other related video features.

 

Other enhancements for mobile and tablet users were "clickable" phone dialing direct to the GED support desk and an improved "Find a Center" page that dynamically links to the tablet or phone's Google map application or web browser for the nearest GED location.

 

The site was created in both English and Spanish and is built to support all major browsers, tablets and smart phones.
