NIGHT DRIVE

180LA was looking to entice a younger demographic to test-drive the new Mitsubishi Mirage G4 by creating a truly engaging interactive experience.

Introducing Night Drive: a smartphone-controlled, dual-screen experience that puts users behind the wheel of the new G4.

Once linked via smartphone, users navigate through an immersive 3D test-track where they engage with various high-tech/low cost features. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Hill Start Assist and Turn Radius are just a few of the features users control with their smartphone.

Upon completing the virtual test-drive, users are given a driver personality rating (Joyrider, Eco Driver, Wallet Warrior, etc.) and are prompted to share a personal highlight reel from their experience on their social networks.

 

PUT TO THE TEST

With a seemingly impossible six-week deadline, Picnic and 180LA turned this idea into a virtual reality by leveraging the expertise and dedication of multiple divisions and geographic locations within Picnic.

CGI, VFX, and original sound design helped bring Night Drive to life, giving users the feeling of actually being in the drivers seat. Built using Google Cloud technology and WebSockets, users could easily pair “smartphone-to-desktop” to achieve a seamless remote-driving experience.
